Do recruiters discriminate against northerners? Equality Minister Harriet Harman reportedly wants to make it illegal for public bodies to discriminate against Northerners. The Daily Mail claims she wants to encourage those from outside London and the South-East to take on senior jobs at hundreds of quangos. The paper said Michael Foster, a minister in her department, is keen to stop quango boards from being too "London-centric". It follows pressure from women and equality minister Meg Munn who demanded action on "how we can get fewer people from the South-East and more people from a wider area" to serve on organisations with a national remit.
